Nantucket Island is more than just the historic buildings and cobblestone/brick streets of downtown, of sea and surf and beaches. It is a living island that supports a year round population as well as hosting tourists and summer people. We found some interesting things.
First, here are the shells and driftwood that you would expect to see.
On one of our walks in November, this dehydrated fish was a find; I think it is fascinating that it had remained mostly whole.
There is quite a bit of rural territory on Nantucket; this “find” was in a back yard.
There are farms – even with animals. (I wonder if the cows, goats and sheep took the fast or the slow ferry.)
Just as in a YT video, this flock of birds suddenly arose and swooped all together; I think they were geese, which makes this a skein.
A classic rural scene of hometown, USA. I like the sign and the orange mailbox.
