This was the sunset on the 4th of July as shot traveling through Waquoit Bay in Mashpee/Falmouth out beyond the jetty into Nantucket Sound. It is a delightful area to watch the fireworks, not only coming from Falmouth, but the Vineyard, and other towns that are difficult to identify from the water. They all go on at the same time, and although they are far away, it is still fun to see the different displays with a 360 view.
This osprey nest is on the end of Seconsett Island Point and presents a great backdrop for the setting sun.
In Waquoit Bay, the line of trees of Washburn Island and the radio/cell(?) tower in Falmouth are visible in the distance.
Out in Nantucket Sound, the clouds add greater detail as they reflect the colors of the setting sun.
The final moments just before the sun disappeared, it cast a deep glow across the water.
Janet – I love the third shot! Wonderful capture…what a gorgeous night
Thanks, Phil. Sometimes it is good to have clouds, as you well know! Tempting for some HDR?
