Kitesurfing or kiteboarding, or whatever you choose to call it, is a popular sport on the waters around Cape Cod.
I happened upon a kiteboarder in May at First Encounter Beach in Eastham. At first, he was a long way away, but patience brought him within shooting range.
I think that his trips back and forth across the shore in front of us became more frequent once an audience and a camera were focused on him.
We were treated to as many jumps as he could make; quite a nice performance for the camera, actually.
Cape Cod Bay really is a great place for the sport. I had only seen kitesurfers previously on Chapaquoit Bay and Waquoit Bay on the Upper Cape.
Flying alone in this vast space, wetsuit and hooded gear, mittens………. kind of cold, I would think.
Great show, whomever you are!
Interestingly enough, I observed this sport just the other day for the first time. I’ll be posting the photos tomorrow.
Great minds, and all that! I’ll be anxious to see yours! They always look better when they are larger, don’t they?
