10:47 AM. Finally seated at The Black Dog Tavern for breakfast were six very hungry people. After all, we had left home at 8:00 to go for breakfast.
Needless to say, all ordered rather quickly, not wanting to delay filling empty stomachs any longer. This is some Green something-or-other that was actually pretty good.
Most went for the hearty fare; when they say two pancakes, it is certainly plenty!
The time at the table was the longest stretch of no photos taken. Once refreshed with food and caffeine, we came alive again and proceeded back to the dock.
A little over an hour later, we were on our way again. Usually we walk the upper street’s shops and enjoy the sights; today we needed to get our boat off the dock since we had been so delayed.
This boat was docked, and the man was displaying his wooden bowls; buy a bowl from the Troll?
Back underway, we could enjoy the sights of Vineyard Haven Harbor again. This is where the Katama and Sankaty freight ferries back in to pickup and off load.
Well, guess what came in again as we left. The Island Home, coming in again at 11:56, late for its scheduled stop. The building on the beach is the Black Dog Tavern – a superb location with wonderful views. Despite all the events of the morning, I may even consider going again next year (maybe in the off season).
Perhaps one day I’ll ride the Island Home just for fun.
