Since I had my macro lens out for the barnacles the other day, I couldn’t resist a few other shots on the way back up to the house. Stopping by the beach roses, I found one with a very active bee.
The top image is a crop of this; they look so much better up close where you can really see the detail.
The focus in this one is not on the bee, but the center of the flower. I can’t remember much about flower anatomy, but find it interesting that the center looks almost gel-like. I especially like the way the yellow “things” appear to be floating (is it “anthers” “stamen”?). I don’t really need to know to enjoy the photograph!
This is a little more cheerful scene than the gray, cloudy skies we have been having for while; I hope the bright colors cheers others as well.
